One of the biggest stories in 2002 was the announcement of the United Linux conglomeration. We live with the benefits of this cooperation in the Linux community to this very day. Several Linux developers combined their efforts to create a more uniform Linux distribution system and procedure. No more , or somewhat less, fighting among these ego driven software developer and writer types.
The advantages were more than obvious at the time , and now even more so with the benefits of hindsight. What resulted was a much more stable distribution base for the Linux open source operating system platform with less variance to be concerned about.
The Linux Community has much to be grateful for.
